Our Programs

We focuses on small scale farmer policy advocacy and community building projects

Washarika grapples with these initial questions. We seek to set in place plans to establish an organization that will grow to firmly facilitate dialogue among small famers, to ensure small scale farmer’s voices are represented at policy level, that their voices are heard in institutions of government charged with their issues and among international bodies that strive to improve small scale farming. Ensuring that conditions are conducive and supportive to small scale farmers is our mission.

The Policy Advocacy unit ensures that farmer’s lived experiences are effectively heard among policy makers and development practitioners. The unit takes deliberate measures to engage conversations regarding the integrity of small scale farming in providing sufficient and safe food, in ecologically sound ways.

Community Building

We support small scale farmers on projects that employ local knowledge and technology

The Community Building unit works with grassroots communities to conceptualize projects that are inclusive, that engage with indigenous knowledge and local technologies, to promote healthy social bonds, vibrant community life and ecologically sound farming practices.
